Please click on your grade level from the list below to view the associated rules for the 2024 Summer Mahragan. 

All questions can be sent to the Mahragan committee board for assessment using the form in the FAQs section. FAQs will be shared on this page and consistently updated throughout the duration of the Mahragan competition this summer. The event schedule appended at the end of this page also includes all significant dates for sports, examinations, and other Mahragan-related activities. Kindly check back on this page for the most recent information.

RULES & INFO

Bible Lessons / Study
 – Please refer to the enclosed eBook PDF for the grade level above. There will be no distribution of question banks among the churches. Instead, a committee comprising selected servants from the churches will develop the exam.
 – The exam dates for Kindergarten through 6th grade will fall between July 28th and August 4th. Each local church will determine the specific date within this timeframe.

 – Note: For KG, the exam will be conducted using pen and paper provided by the Mahragan committee and overseen by the local church’s servants. Exams for all other grades will be administered online.

 

 

Coptic
 – Each church will administer the exam using printed flashcards with the Coptic letters. The child will be asked to name 10 letters out of the 26 selected by the servants. The scores will be recorded and reported to the church’s local coordinator.

 

 

Hymns
 – Hymns for Kindergarten grade will be the one posted in the YouTube link below and will be required in Coptic.

 – The deadline for submitting the hymn recordings is Sunday, August 4th, at midnight.

 

 

Memorization
 – Please reference the material provided in the enclosed eBook PDF for the grade level above.

 

 

Sports
 – Each individual church will be hosting an internal event for the KG grade level sports-related activities.

 – Hymns for 1st and 2nd grade will be the ones posted in the YouTube link below and will be required in Coptic and then English. The entire hymn is required in both languages.

 – For ping pong, grades 3/4 will have a single mixed-gender team of three kids (2 boys and 1 girl) from each church.

Hymns
 – Hymns for 5th and 6th grade will be the ones posted in the various below within this section.

 – The Gospel Response will be required starting with the Intro verse first in English only, followed by the remaining 2 verses in Coptic. The English/Coptic order is displayed below from page 32 of the Mahragan book.

 – Following, the Nayrouz Doxology will be required and should be alternating between both Coptic and English. For the recording, please have the hymn first start in Coptic.

 – For the Coptic exam, there will be an individual test using only pen and paper method on the same day as the Bible jeopardy. The materials will include the assigned hymns from the book (page 36) and words from the Doxology.

 

 

Hymns
 – Hymns for 7th and 8th grade will be the one posted in the YouTube link below. The hymn is required in Coptic only.
 – For the Coptic hymns exam, students will perform live chanting of the hymns in front of a panel of judges on the day of the Jeopardy game. More specific rules for that day will be provided soon.
